About the event

Throughout the East Midlands region, it is a priority of the EMSOU Fraud Protect team, to protect University students from becoming victims of fraud, due to them often being specifically targeted by criminals for fraudulent gain. Whether this be through money muling, Chinese underground banking or virtual kidnapping, students are at risk, and it is our responsibility to help protect not only the wider university demographic, but also the international students.

To help spread awareness around this topical issue, this event aims to bring key representatives together from East Midlands Universities to share ideas on how to best protect students from fraud; this would include encouraging communication and information sharing around trends and crime MO’s to help improve safeguarding for our International Student Communities.

The event will be hosted at the Barclays Campus in Northampton and will involve several speakers presenting their expertise work around the relationship between fraud and students, including the NCA, Dr Nicola Harding and We Fight Fraud. The exact itinerary will be released closer to the date, but you can expect to also see a presentation on cyber aware priciples, along with a free lunch and refreshments.
